My '05 IS300 has been fantastic and unfailing... well I guess until now. Got a P0037 code for O2 sensor B1S2, and the traction control light starts blinking with the check engine light. Feels weird. It's like they're linked but maybe not? Also, when replacing the sensor, should I go with a universal or the bank-specific one? Curious if it's just cable length or something else.

P0037 is often a heater circuit issue and can trigger traction control lights. For your IS300 stick with the bank specific O2 sensor, it is a better fit and wiring than universal.

That P0037 error code messes with your traction control and check engine lights since theyre pretty much connected. So definitely you should go for a bank specific sensor instead of a universal one to avoid fit and cable problems, it'll save you trouble no doubt

I don't recommend universal one. What for? If you're planning on staying with that car for a little longer, get a bank-specific one. It's gonna save you a lot of headaches I swear.

The P0037 code points to the downstream O2 sensor (B1S2) and while its odd, the traction control light can sometimes come on with a CEL due to how the ECU reacts, probably not directly related but triggered by the same fault. When replacing it, its better to go with the bank-specific (OEM or direct-fit) sensor , universal ones can cause issues if the wiring or resistance isn't an exact match. It's more than just cable length in most cases
